On the 9th of July 2019 the sad news reached us that Jürgen Pingitzer has passed. He succumbed to a series of conditions all going back to lung cancer that he had  overcome 7 years ago, or so we all believed.  

We have lost a great friend, a great piano player, a knowledgeable historian of jazz, a wonderful host at his home.

As a quartet we last played on January 18th, 2019. Here is a George Gershwin tune from 1931 called "Who Cares" we played that day featuring Jürgen on  piano, accompanied by Peter Bauer on bass and Franz Leberl on drums: 

We mourn with Jürgen's wife Christa who has become a trusted friend going way beyond our jazz interests.
